The James Lockwood Quartet @ Ringo Barr

The James Lockwood Quartet comes to Ringo Barr to celebrate the iconic Jazz music of the Swing and Bebop idioms from 1930 to 1955. Led by titular bassist James Lockwood and organised in the unique format of dual guitars, upright bass, and drums, The James Lockwood Quartet spotlights the unique melodic qualities of the bowed upright bass with an emphasis on spirited melodic inventions in the tradition of Charlie Parker, Billie Holiday, and Coleman Hawkins.

Featuring accompaniment and melodic contributions from many of Melbourne’s premier Jazz guitarists and percussionists, The James Lockwood Quartet delights in the musical language of the great Jazz of the Mid-Century.
