The Australian Red Cross's Migration Support Programs is responsible for running Connected Women NT (Won The Fitzgeralds’ Diversity Award at NT Human Rights Awards 2022), a program that has been working tirelessly with refugees, migrants, and people seeking asylum for over 25 years. As part of this program, Red Cross NT organizes regular meetings for women from diverse background to connect with women from the wider community, including Aboriginal women.

The primary goal of these meetings is to provide a safe space for isolated migrant women to overcome social isolation, develop skills, and connect with the broader Australian community. The meetings take the form of various activities and workshops centred around specific areas of interest to the women. Whenever possible, the women themselves organize and lead these activities, with Red Cross playing a facilitating role.

The Fashion Show will be a celebration of cultural unity and diversity. It will showcase the talents of women from diverse backgrounds who have participated in workshops to create, upcycle, and repurpose items such as clothing and accessories. In addition to the fashion show, some participants will share performances that represent their culture and cultural identity. By highlighting the skills and cultural heritage of these women, the Fashion Show promotes inclusivity and understanding in the broader Australian community.

Each group will showcase their unique cultural heritage, sharing culinary information and serving up their delicious traditional cuisines to everyone for FREE.
