On a summer evening, Beth leaves her daughter, Sophie at her Grandmother’s house and does not return. While trying to make sense of her daughter’s choices, and struggling with her own guilt and grief ,Rosemary does her best to raise Sophie. She’s not raising her alone though. Amidst the chaos in their family, friends rally to help and can’t help but love this little girl. Can good friends and home cooking heal Beth and Rosemary’s relationship? Or is it too late? And what will happen to Sophie if it is? The Kitchen is a story of found family, resilience, love and second chances.

Bio:

Kaitlyne Colbert is thrilled to be making her debut as a playwright with Bleu Moon Production’s performance of her play The Kitchen. A native of North Carolina and graduate of North Carolina School of the Arts, Colbert has appeared in plays, musicals and operas both regionally and internationally. Fans of Bleu Moon will know her from fall 2022’s production of Dearly Beloved where she appeared as twins Tina Jo and Gina Jo. Currently, she is reprising the role of Belle for the second year in a row in Goodly Frame Shakespeare theater’s production of A Christmas Carol. She would like to thank Karen Reynolds for mentoring her throughout the writing process as well as her family and Kyle for their constant support of her creative pursuits.
