    Event description

Bush Heritage Australia invites you to join us at the movies to watch documentary film The Koalas, a story of the resilience of this iconic species in the face of threatened extinction in the wild.

On the East Coast Australia, where ancient forests meet the urban fringe, koalas are facing unprecedented challenges.

THE KOALAS sheds light on a disturbing truth: the very entities entrusted with safeguarding our natural treasures are contributing to the demise of these emblematic creatures.

The stories in the film show the struggle and resilience of this iconic species in the face of threatened extinction in the wild.

THE KOALAS takes audiences on a journey into the lives of individual koalas, led by charismatic characters - Wonnie, Bexley, Tom, Baz, Coral and adorable joeys Hope and Pala. From the unfolding stories, we witness the unique characteristics of koalas, their bond with their young, and the wildlife carers who dedicate their life to these animals. These seven emerge as ambassadors for all koalas facing multiple threats to their ongoing survival.

The screening will be followed by a Q&A panel hosted by Bush Heritage Australia's Michelle Stook.

    Panellists:

We acknowledge the Jagera and Turrbal Traditional Owners of the Meanjin Nation, upon whose land this event will take place.  We recognise and respect the enduring relationships they have with their lands and waters, and we pay our respects to their Elders, past and present
