The Last Daughter Book Launch

This event has passed Get tickets

Event description

All Saints Anglican School proudly presents the national launch of Aunty Brenda Matthews' highly anticipated book, The Last Daughter.

The event will include a reading from the book, a Q&A session with Brenda, and an opportunity to purchase and have your copy of the book signed by the author herself.

Light refreshments will be served, and there will be plenty of opportunity for a yarn with fellow cultural representatives in our local community.

This event is open to the public, and we'd especially like to extend a special invitation to any students and/or cultural representatives involved in reconciliation within their school or organisation.

About the Book

After being raised by a white family, a young girl is taken away and returned to the Aboriginal family she didn’t know. The Last Daughter is an account of Brenda’s journey to discover the truth about her past—and to unite her two families. It’s a story of heartbreak, love and hope, one that shows a way forward for all Australians.

‘I share this story out of love and forgiveness.’ - Brenda Matthews

Praise for Aunty Brenda and The Last Daughter

‘Powerful and inspirational— a must-read.’ - Taryn Brumfitt, Australian of the Year

‘The Last Daughter might be one of the most important books an Australian could read…This memoir is not for the faint of heart, but it is a book for anyone with a heart.’  - Books+Publishing
