Description

Jackie Marshall launches her fifth album The Last Of The Human Troubadours live on stage, joined by Chris Pickering and the hauntingly beautiful Black Square Quartet, with arrangements by Robert Davidson.

The program moves between original songs and unexpected companions, from an obscure Joni Mitchell cover and an Irish/Scottish traditional to the 2000-year-old Seikilos Epitaph.

Marshall’s writing is direct and disarming, tracing a path through uncertain times with warmth, humour and clear-eyed honesty.

Black Square Quartet is a fresh, boundary-pushing string ensemble focused on contemporary Australian work, bringing a vivid, modern edge to classical music.

The pairing of Black Square Quartet with Jackie Marshall is a meeting of soulful virtuosity delivered with intention.

With their finely detailed arrangements, this collaboration carries a quiet intensity and clarity through each song. Thoughtful, grounded and deeply felt.
