Alicia Hoskin
From Gisborne to two Olympic gold medals. Alicia Hoskin has become one of the biggest names in New Zealand canoe sprint, winning K2 and K4 gold at Paris 2024 and a World Championship title in 2023. But her connection to Level Playing Field goes beyond what she has achieved on the water. Growing up in Gisborne, Alicia saw how the cost of sport could make it harder for young people to stay involved and get the opportunities they deserved. And she knows better than most that an elite sporting career isn’t always a straight line. She’s recently undergone surgery and is now working her way back. At The Locker Room, Alicia will give us a glimpse behind the medals and into the parts of elite sport that don’t always get talked about.
Katherine Oberlin-Brown
At just 18, Katherine Prumm became a World Champion. Then she did it again. 🏆 2× Women’s Motocross World Champion 🇳🇿 4× NZ Senior Women’s Champion 🏆 Oceania Women’s Motocross Champion 🇦🇺 Australian Women’s Champion 🇺🇸 USA Women’s Motocross Cup Champion 🏅 Motorcycling NZ Hall of Fame But her story took a very different turn at just 20 when a serious training crash brought her motocross career to an unexpected end. What came next was a Masters Degree and the start of a new career supporting New Zealand athletes reach their potential on the world stage. Today, Katherine has more than 15 years' experience working in high-performance sport as a Performance Physiologist, Performance Team Leader, and Athlete Support Manager, supporting athletes and teams across a range of Olympic and Paralympic sports. A pretty incredible story. And one you probably haven’t heard before.
