The Long Johns
Event description
The Long Johns have just announced their brand new Single, Ep and film clip, all called Bones and are ready to ride shotgun and bang out the shows! Don't miss their Brisbane show at It's Still A Secret with Slips & The F.W.'s!
New Single 'Bones' has the signature sound that is the Long Johns; somewhere between the honky tonk amblings of a jungle giant, puffing steam trains through yesteryears with a blending of crusty mandolin, janky banjo, bric-a-brac percussion and the bear choir of burly skelly-men. Topped with the ratbag rasp of shrill banshee, Sian Evans, all with a vintage slap black twist, Bones is a rollicking journey tune woven of a black heart; Skeletons un-requiring of life or essential resources to continue forward motion. Inherently hidden within the lyrics, a tale of successors, inevitably making it home despite all odds of the disbelief from nay-sayers who should wind up eating their words with no welcome into the "slice of eden”. It's black sunshine, dark but not without a happy ending, equivalent of restful slumber should the dead come to need a nap.
The Ep of the same name was produced by Brisbane indie darling, Jamie Trevakis direct to tape in his studio in the hills. Warm and real was the vibe of the sessions and captured the essence of a band dangerously burning in a bushfire rich environment. Too hot to put out yet too hard to look away. The clip for single Bones was expertly animated in by Interceptor Design’s Luke Brook and shows the band in a rambling Steamboat Willie wasteland with the bones of vocalist Sian Evan toiling through hardship with the heart of a valkyrie not to be defeated.
Bones features The Long Johns at their threatening best, live, real and exhilarating!
