    Event description

Be swept away into the lands of Ancient Egypt, as we meet the goddess Hathor who is wandering the Earth having lost her musical instrument: The Sistrum. In its absence, sickness grows. Crops are no longer producing, the rains have shrivelled up like the rivers and creek beds, and the air that surrounds mankind and connects them to each other has become stale. There is no music and no time left to dance.

In order for life to be restored to it's natural order, the Sistrum must be found. In order for the sistrum to be found, the Goddess must be remembered.

Therefore, The Lost Sistrum is a celebratory show that is overflowing with colourful and spectacular bellydancers, middle eastern drumming, poetic storytelling & timeless sound healing - each act an offering to Hathor, each act in reverence to the Goddess that lives within us all: Man, Woman and Planet.

We invite you to join us on what will be, Embellyment's final production until further notice.

*This show was made possible by the Flying Arts Fund Rapid Grant / RADF Grant QLD - We are grateful for the support!

We respect and honour the roots of Bellydance and countries from which it originates - in particular, the rich and deep Egyptian culture. Each show is deliberately created to ensure that this knowledge is preserved and we are forever grateful for the contribution from source artists who share their history with us. It is our hope that we do the dance service.

**The storyline is deliberately designed to celebrate the human history on women engaging within the land and maintaining fertility by remembering sustainable land management and thereby combining the arts and environmental awareness.
