    Event description

The Magic Lantern is the musical moniker of singer-songwriter and composer Jamie Doe, an artist blurring the boundaries between folk, jazz and contemporary music. Born in Australia before moving to the UK at 12, his songs examine the limitless depth of human experience with devastating, joyous results.

His fourth album 'A Reckoning Bell' was written and recorded while helping to care for his father with Alzheimers disease, sees Jamie turn to the piano to explore what loss can teach us about love and how love’s many small acts give a life meaning. The result is a study in masculine vulnerability that sits with and acknowledges the inevitability of a loss witnessed in slow motion and the unexpected moments of joy that sustain us.

His new single 'No One's Fault' is out on 25 November 2022.

“Dreamy, beautiful. Something very, very special."

    -  Lauren Laverne, BBC6 Music

“Extraordinary. Beautiful poised singing, amazing lyrics. Hypnotic!"

    - Tom Robinson, BBC Radio 6 Music

"Gorgeous, beautiful. This stopped me in my tracks. Slightly surreal, in all the right ways. He’s just one of those artists who sounds totally like himself “

    - Jamie Cullum, BBC Radio 2

Little Clouds are a subtly nostalgic, feel good singer songwriter duo from Sydney, Australia. AKA Nick Henderson & Emily-Rose Sarkova write lofty afternoon inspired hits and introspective midnight bangers, laced with clever lyrics and sweet chords that make you feel real good. And let's be honest - we are all in it for the feelings. They move between their multi-instrumentalist personalities of guitar, bass, piano, keys, synths, accordion and vocals. It is intimate. It is real. Journeys will be had.

If one requires some hard hitting musical facts about these two musicians, you might like to know that these Conservatorium graduates have played with award winning and very diverse musicians such as ARIA nominated Chaika, jazz legend Mike Nock, world renowned Australian Brandenburg Orchestra, Elio Villafranca, Arcing Wires, Monsieur Camembert, Duo Ramirez Satorre and Chris Cody Octet. Some of their other projects include Slow Streams/50 Cycles ambient improvised music, Emily-Rose and the Wild Things folk prog fusion and The Good Behaviours new-timey banjo quintet.
