These three One-Act Operas are based on the short stories by Katherine Mansfield

Composed by Dorothy Buchanan, Libretto by Jeremy Commons

The Woman at the Store (25 minutes) - Directed by Lisa Warrington, Musical Direction by Mark Wigglesworth

~ Set in a high country store, two drovers seeking shelter end up entwined in the case of a mysterious disappearance.

Miss Brill (25 minutes) - Directed by Clare Adams, Musical Direction by Sandra Crawshaw

~ On her Sunday stroll through the park, Miss Brill - in her best fur - has a life-changing experience.

*Featuring Jack Moyer on Cello

The Daughters of the Late Colonel (33 minutes) - Directed by Kim Morgan, Musical Direction by David Burchell

~ A coming of age story about two girls navigating their father's passing, and coming to terms with their newfound freedom.

Opera Otago is proud to be New Zealand’s longest running opera company, producing opera for over 60 years! We aim to present two productions per year, a large-scale production and a production aimed at children, with workshops and tours of the region where time and resources permit. Our Executive Committee is made up of several enthusiastic and talented individuals with a broad range of experience and knowledge that we utilise in running the company. As a not-for-profit volunteer organisation, Opera Otago relies on grants from local and national businesses and trusts to support it. We also rely on individual supporters who make up our audience, our membership base, and who can donate to help us to maintain a quality home of Opera in the South of New Zealand.
