Weaving yourself into the conversation: the visual language of ‘The Map of Nearness’

Join artists Aleea Monsour, Lamisse Hamouda, Prita Tina Yeganeh & Sirena Varma for a participatory weaving workshop connected to Mas{a/i}r . مسار . مسیر The Map of Nearness.

Learn the experimental methodology behind the work, create your own visual design, and contribute an element to the evolving installation, adding your response to its living conversation about how belonging is made.

Facilitators

Aleea Monsour 

Aleea Monsour is a Lebanese-Australian independent artist, producer, dramaturg, and community theatre practitioner based in Magandjin/Meanjin (Brisbane), Queensland.

Lamisse Hamouda 

Lamisse is a transdisciplinary artist, writer, poet, workshop facilitator, narrative therapist (in-training) of Egyptian, Muslim and white-Australian (European) inheritances, based in Magandjin (Brisbane), Queensland.

Prita Tina Yeganeh 

Prita Tina Yeganeh is a multidisciplinary artist and workshop facilitator of Iranian heritage, based in Magan-djin (Brisbane), Queensland. Her practice explores the politics of land, migration, and belonging through social practice, experimental research, printmaking, and installations.

Sirena Varma

Sirena Varma is a multidisciplinary designer and artist from Beirut, based in Magan-djin (Brisbane), whose practice spans visual art, graphic design and exhibition design. Drawing on her Lebanese, Palestinian, German and Indian heritage, her work centres cultural memory, care, and visual storytelling, often through collaboration.

This is a free event, and all are welcome to attend, engage and explore, respectfully.
