Join Dan Koop and special guests for a creative tour and lunchtime lecture that explores the Place, People & Products of the Queen Victoria Markets, through social exchange not financial transaction.

SPECIAL GUESTS:

  • Saturday 2 September - Jason Mailing is an artist whose work is a conceptually driven amalgamation of object creation, performance, and social processes that engage with the distinct conditions of locations and people. Jason is a member of Field Theory who created 9000 Minutes at the Market for the Melbourne Biennale Lab (2016).
  • Saturday 9 September - Amy Spiers is an artist, curator, writer and researcher who focuses upon socially engaged and public art practice, including investigation of counter-monuments and creative labor. Amy was co-editor of the public art anthology Let’s Go Outside: Art in Public (2002).
  • Saturday 16 September - David Cross is an artist, writer and curator for various site based commissioning programs through the Public Art Commission at Deakin University, which is devoted to the commissioning and scholarship of temporary public art. David was a member of the curatorium for the Melbourne Biennale Lab (2016) at the Market.

SPECIAL GUEST for a KID FRIENDLY INTER-GENERATIONAL SESSION:

  • Saturday 23 September - Alex Walker is an inclusive youth arts practitioner making live art with a cross-section of young people at the point where the spheres of children, arts, culture, and politics intersect. This session is kid friendly, but all families, carers, grandparents and extended families are welcome for this inter-generational session!

Dan Koop’s previous market research has included residencies at South Melbourne Market (2020) with Jamie Lewis, Preston Market (2021) with Katerina Kokkinos-Kennedy and Gleadell St Market (2023) and has continued with Testing Grounds at the Queen Victoria Market since July. Dan Koop is an Artist, Curator-Producer, Facilitator and Researcher making performance works in public spaces and social situations that encourage participation. As an Artist Dan creates audience centred projects including rowing across rivers, walking and talking along creeks and hosting rapid honeymoons in hotel rooms and has received Green Room Awards for his works.
