The Master and Margarita
Event description
“Manuscripts don’t burn.”
Adapted from Mikhail Bulgakov's novel written in secret under Stalinist Russia, The Master and Margarita is a phantasmagorical challenge to censorship and oppression through the power of imagination.
Set in the height of Stalinist paranoia, The Devil, Woland, and his entourage have come to Moscow to shake up the literary and theatrical elite. Featuring giant talking cats, the secret police, ancient Galilee, a doomed writer, a lost manuscript, and a woman who will do anything to save her lover’s story - even become a witch.
A collaboration between Bad Company Theatre and The Old Nick Company, The Master and Margarita full of puppetry, stage craft, and tasteful (if not chaotic) nudity, is a wild and magical work celebrating the power of the imagination, and how ideas never die.
