Join Lyster Opera for a special return season by popular demand of Otto Nicolai’s The Merry Wives of Windsor at Stratford Courthouse Theatre.

After a triumphant 2025 tour that played to standing ovations across Victoria, this delightful and rarely performed masterpiece returns for one performance only—and marks Lyster Opera’s first visit to Stratford.

Full of warmth, wit, and irresistible melody, The Merry Wives of Windsor brings Shakespeare’s beloved comedy to life through Nicolai’s sparkling score. Combining spoken dialogue with glorious operatic ensembles, the work follows the misadventures of the boastful Sir John Falstaff as he attempts to outwit the clever wives of Windsor—with predictably disastrous results.

Performances of this opera are few and far between, making this a rare opportunity to experience one of the hidden gems of the operatic repertoire. We are delighted to be bringing this acclaimed production to Stratford and look forward to sharing an afternoon of laughter, wonderful music, and great theatre with local audiences.

One performance only—book early to avoid disappointment.
