Event description

THE MIGHTY HOOPSNAKE EP LAUNCH – WITH KILROY AND CETACEAN - GARAGE-PUNK//POST-PUNK//BEATS

From the shattered remains of Pangea, join Australia’s premier (and only) ecology themed garage-punk band THE MIGHTY HOOPSNAKE as they launch their debut EP – ‘TERROR AUSTRALIS’!

If you are desperate for a full course in how beautiful and screwed Australia’s ecosystems are, but are disappointed by the lack of heavy guitar and distorted vocals currently offered by a mainstream tertiary biology degree then look no further! Doctors Esquerre (herpetology, drums) and Rowell (behavioural ecology, guitar, vocals) are fully qualified to teach students in taxonomy, phylogenetics, behavioural ecology, bioacoustics, huge riffs, and pounding drums.

With the launch of TERROR AUSTRALIS, The Mighty Hoopsnake offers a complete education in Australia’s incredible ecology and darwinian horror, borne on a heady mix of punk, blues, psych, and doom, educating the masses and serving as a stern warning to parents about the dangers of higher education.

They are joined in this historic ecological endeavour by some of Canberra’s biggest musical megafauna:

Keystone post-punk species, and stalwarts of the Canberra ecosystem, masters of the keening guitar and thunderous rhythm KILROY!

AND

The Baleen Behemoth of Benthic Beats CETACEAN, bringing chill liquid grooves from the icy depths.

So spend your sunny long weekend Sunday right with some of Canberra’s rich musical biodiversity, and help launch a brand new EP blinking into the sunlight.
