Musical writer Joanna Weinberg is the composer and lyricist of 24 lively and interesting historical songs, each a snapshot of this storied neighbourhood. Millers Point composer Susan Hunt makes her professional debut with a contribution honouring current local heroes. Sung by a talented cast of 4, Rob Johnson, Megan Walshe, Eliane Morel and Annerose de Jong and supported by three musicians; Paul Miskin on Banjo, Jeremy Cook on Percussion and Michelle Goldman on Piano. James Hart plays The Narrator. Locals 'Choir Rocks' provide colourful backing under the expert direction of Joanna Weinberg. Costume Design by Gavin Barbey and lighting by Larry Kelly. Suitable for all ages, this show is a must for anybody wanting an entertaining and professional dive into recent history, from the naming of the area in 1833 through multiple changes of management like the Sydney Harbour Trust and the Maritime Workers Services Board to the exile of the inhabitants of the Sirius Building in 2022. History comes alive in the Millers Point Songbook, five performances only at the splendid Garrison Church. NB the show is on during VIVID and we strongly recommend that you plan to arrive by public transport and make a night of it, getting a train, bus, bike or ferry to this gorgeous historical neighbourhood.
