Erica Messer: After losing her beloved cat, Wolfgang, Erica Messer created Pet Loss Grieving Cards, inspired by her grief and encouraged by her mother Bonnie. Wolfie’s Wish gained worldwide recognition, winning “Best New Product” at Superzoo 2022 for these simple affirmation cards. Erica, now a certified pet bereavement specialist, hosts a monthly virtual support group and offers an online grief course.
Arlene Adams is a dynamic entrepreneur with a diverse background. She has experience managing a family pet shop and participating in breeding and dog obedience competitions. She also has a successful career in IT, project management, banking, and finance. Her journey has led her to acquire a unique skill set that she now uses to spearhead business excellence initiatives at Waglands Dog Daycare.
Layamon Bakewell is the Chief Executive Officer of Pets in the City, a large-scale Doggie Daycare and Pet Hotel franchise. He has a Master’s degree in Business Studies from Massey University, and will soon complete his MBA from AUT. He is also a graduate of the Royal Navy’s Principal Warfare Officer (PWO) Course in Portsmouth, England. Layamon has gained a unique leadership and operational management perspective, which he now applies to the pet care industry. His session will explore insights on leadership, operational excellence, and the joy of creating meaningful, thriving environments for both pets and their owners. Layamon’s current focus is on developing and enhancing the Pets In The City Franchise System. Join him in exploring innovative strategies for business growth and service excellence in the petcare industry.
After overcoming her lifelong fear of dogs, Jules Greenwood became a devoted dog owner and found herself frustrated by the lack of product availability in New Zealand for dog mums like her. When she was made redundant during the Covid-19 pandemic, she used her 18 years of experience supporting other business owners to create Sweet As Pup, an online dog boutique selling treats, toys, and accessories for dogs apparel and home decor for dog lovers. Get ready for a paw-some time as Jules spills the beans on e-commerce , business marketing, and how to master social media.
