100 Years of Economics at the University of Canterbury
The year 2020 marked the 100-year anniversary of the establishment of the Economics Department at the University of Canterbury. It was in 1920 that the first Professor of Economics, John Condliffe, was formally appointed, and this milestone marks the historical starting point for the Department. Over the ensuing 100 years, the Department has seen many of its graduates leaving their footprint in private business, the public sector, and academia.
