The Night Watch: LA NOTTE
Event description
The Night Watch presents LA NOTTE
Closing an exciting 2025 Season, LA NOTTE brings to Te Whanganui-ฤ-Tara a sultry, virtuosic evening of music from the Italian Baroque.
We are thrilled to welcome again guest soprano Carleen Ebbs in intoxicating works by Tarquinio Merula and Barbara Strozzi, and to spotlight our own Kamala Bain in Vivaldi's Recorder Concerto in G Minor 'La Notte'.
We're delighted to present guest violinist Anne Loeser (NZSO), who joins us as a soloist in Vivaldi's Violin Concerto in E Minor 'La Stravaganza' alongside our principal baroque violinist Miranda Hutton, and principal lute/theorbo/baroque guitar George Wills. We are joined again our principal keyboard player Rachael Griffiths-Hughes, viola da gamba Imogen Granwal, and welcome also guest percussionist Benjamin Whitton.
Continuing the theme of our 2025 Season, LA NOTTE explores different facets of the night through music that is, by turns, dream-like, sensual, and vibrantly rhythmic; featuring works by Barbara Strozzi, Isabella Leonarda, alongside many others,
Join us for a vivid, hot-blooded evening of music-making, featuring some of Aotearoa's finest specialists in early music.
