The Noody Dook 2027
Description
A little cold water. A lot of bare bums. A good cause.
Join us for Noody Dook on Sunday 25 April 2027, a morning dip raising funds for Surfers Against Sewage and celebrating the bodies that carry us through life.
There’s no perfect beach body required. Come as you are, have a laugh and share a brave wee moment with folk who are up for the same adventure. Every body is welcome.
We’re supporting Surfers Against Sewage because the water we swim in deserves looking after. They campaign for clean seas, healthy rivers and an end to sewage pollution; a cause close to the hearts of those of us who love a dook.
This is a dip, with no distance to cover or prize for staying in longest. Water safety support will be there on the day, and everyone must follow the event briefing and instructions.
Bring a towel, warm layers and something cosy for your feet afterwards. A flask is a very good shout too.
Bare bums, warm hearts and cleaner water. That’s the plan.
FAQs
- Do I have to get completely naked?
It’s a skinny dip, so that’s the spirit of it! But you do you.
You can stay wrapped in your towel or robe until you’re ready to enter the water, then cover up again afterwards.
- Do I need to be an experienced swimmer?
You don’t need to swim any distance. This is a short dook, and you can stay within your depth. You should feel comfortable entering cold, open water and follow the safety team’s instructions.
- Will there be water safety support?
Yes, water safety support will be there on the day. There is a short safety briefing before entering the water.
- What should I bring?
A towel or changing robe, loose warm clothes, a hat and something warm for your feet. Bring a mat to stand on and a flask for afterwards; cold fingers and fiddly buttons are a rotten combination.
- How long do I have to stay in?
There’s no minimum time and no endurance challenge. A quick dip counts.
- Can I take photographs?
Please respect everyone’s privacy. Don’t photograph or film anyone who is undressed, or include other participants in photos without their clear permission.
- What happens if the weather is awful?
Conditions will be assessed on the day. If it’s unsafe to enter the water, the dip will not go ahead. Check your email before travelling for any updates.
- What are we raising money for?
Noody Dook is raising funds for Surfers Against Sewage, supporting their work campaigning for clean seas, healthy rivers and an end to sewage pollution.
- Can I come on my own?
Absolutely, lots of people do.
Come solo, bring a pal, or persuade someone that this is a perfectly reasonable way to spend a Sunday morning. You’ll have a shared talking point fairly quickly.
