Join Us for a Creative Adventure!

Calling all young people aged 12-18 years!

Are you ready to immerse yourself in the magic of performing arts? Look no further! Our Performing Arts Holiday Workshop Event - The Open Stage awaits you.

These winter school holidays, headspace Port Macquarie, Out Loud & Proud,  and Home Cafe at Roto House present ‘The Open Stage’- a fun-filled, ‘come & try’ performing and creative arts event. No experience necessary, this event is all about doing something you’ve always wanted to but didn’t have the opportunity or access to.  Meet new friends, learn new skills and ignite your creative flair! 

LGBTQIA+ Friendly – All abilities welcome.

Whether you’re a bedroom dancer, an aspiring actor, or simply curious about the arts, this event promises inspiration, growth, and unforgettable memories.

  • Dates & Times
    Thursday 18th  1pm-5pm workshops
  • Friday 19th -
    1pm-5pm workshops 
    6pm-8pm - Showcase Night
  • Location: Home Cafe - Roto House, Port Macquarie
  • Cost: FREE (snacks provided) Dietary requirements confirmed in the ticket booking. 

Showcase Night - family, parents, carers and community members are invited to attend and support Home Cafe you are graciously allowing us to use their beautiful space. 


What to Expect:

  1. Make Up Workshops: Enter the make up of drag queens, drag kings and cosplay fanatics. This Make Up workshop will teach you the makeup basics to create your own character. 
  2. Acting and Improv Sessions: Dive into the world of theater! Learn acting techniques, improv games, and scene work. Express yourself on stage and discover the joy of storytelling.
  3. Circus Skills Workshop: Learn how to clown about and perform impressive circus skills.
  4. Spoken Word & Songwriting: Always wanted to try rap, poetry or songwriting? Learn how to express yourself with words & if you already play an instrument turn those words into lyrics. 


Who Can Attend:

  • Ages: 12 - 18 year olds (Note: Participants U16 will need parental consent)
  • Skill Level: All levels—from beginners to advanced performers—are welcome.
  • Passion: If you love the arts or just want to try something new or meet new friends - this is for you!


Safety Measures:

  • Bring your own water bottle.
  • Dress comfortably in clothes suitable for movement.
