The Paper Collar Pickers are Rod Vervest and Craig Sinclair, two musicians hailing from WA’s south coast, who share a common love for ragtime guitar, close harmonies and Albany’s granite coastline. Rod is a seasoned fingerstyle acoustic guitarist, fronting a series of successful musical projects, alongside his current role as Artistic Director for the Albany International Folk & Shanty Festival. Craig is an award-winning singer-songwriter, guitarist and dobro player, who plants his storytelling lyrics in the rich riverbed of old-timey and contemporary folk styles. This likely pair came together in 2010 to provide the rhythmic engine room for popular WA acoustic quintet the Pepperjacks, honing their tasty dual thumb-picking arrangements and single microphone technique. Now on opposite sides of the country (they are both inter-generational and inter-jurisdictional) they reunite in happy moments to celebrate the old stories, the old tunes and the mighty right thumb of old Big Bill Broonzy.

Live In The Chapel: Hosted by The Marritree - Art, Books & Music 3 Redgate Rd Witchcliffe WA

The Chapel Witchcliffe is a beautiful, intimate venue next to the historic building, The Witch & Windmill, formally Darnell's General Store.

Built by owner Sam Caruso from recycled materials in 2022, this bespoke building with stunning acoustics is a wonder to be seen. The Marritree has been hosting music music and poetry events in Sam's chapel since it opened, bringing live music from across Australia to the tiny town of Witchcliffe, creating community and fostering creativity.

Things to know: the chapel is not a licensed venue, bring your own refreshments. Please book ahead for dinner/drinks with any of the licensed restaurants in Witchcliffe.
