The Passage of Light in Pastel
Event description
Description
It is the Passage of Light across objects on surface and the shadows and reflections that this light creates. This two-day workshop will guide you from start to finish observing a well-lit still life of your choice. Learn the techniques of pastel application to create depth and tone. Suitable for all skill levels.
It’s a fast life in which we live and it’s a strange occupation to be observing in one direction all day. The magic occurs when after a while our eyes become sensitised to our chosen image and we come to understand what we “really see”. This understanding comes about because of the length of time that is afforded to us as the light across our still life is stronger than any other changing ambient light. Unlike all other genres this is the subject that affords a faster understanding because we can work plein air all day on the one set up. Extra magic occurs when our blossoming understanding allows us to more easily express “who we really are.”
