The People's Mock Blockade - Paynesville
Event description
Join Gippsland Rising Tide and the East Gippsland Climate Action Network for a family-friendly climate event on the Paynesville foreshore on Sunday 6 October.
This is a free event.
Bring a canoe, kayak or paddleboard and get out on the water with us right here in East Gippsland, to send a message about climate change this October!
Children15 years and under must have a supervising adult with them while on the water.
We want you, your friends and family, to come and have some fun by blockading our very own symbolic coal ship at Paynesville, followed by a climate activist BYO picnic on the beach. This is an alcohol-free event. Join us to raise awareness in our local community about the risks of runaway climate change and show the power of the people!
If we are serious about reducing the major causes of climate change we must stop mining, exporting, and burning fossil fuels.
Come and join us by watching or joining in on our blockade! Learn more about the Rising Tide and find out how you can help plan for the 2024 National Climate Justice Action at the Coal Port of Newcastle over a picnic lunch after the Paynesville blockade.
This event is held on GurnaiKurnai Land.
