This will be a yearly event held in October for Arts Month.

On October 19th, we are proud to present...

Miracles, Mercies, Monsters and Magic Tricks
— patron saints of mourning by Jacqueline Viola Moulton
A performance as an interactive and participatory service engaging with all the monsters and melodies of our discontent. Participants will engage in a series of movements, rituals, and stations before coming back together in order to experience the miracles, mercies, and magic of communal transformation.

The Patron Saints of Mourning will forgive you all the sins of surviving, will bless the burdens you carry, will transform your regrets, jealousies, mistakes and malcontents into poems and prayers of mercy. It’s magic. It’s mercy. Together, we will welcome the monsters and will leave as saints.

"No Sabo" is an exploration of an artist finding a map back to herself through a Diasporic lens.

Poetry by Nico Wilkinson
Nico Wilkinson (they/he) is a poet, organizer, and artist based out of Colorado Springs, CO. They are the organizer of Keep Colorado Springs Queer, an award-winning open mic started in 2016. In January 2017 they released “Inauguration,” a collaborative book with Idris Goodwin which celebrated resilience in the midst of the hostile political climate. They are the 2017 champion of Capturing Fire, the national queer poetry competition and summit. Their full-length poetry collection, The Weeds Grow Anyway, is set to release Fall 2024.

“Learning to wear a mask (that word already embedded in the term “masculinity”) is the first lesson in patriarchal masculinity that a boy learns. He learns that his core feelings cannot be expressed if they do not conform to the acceptable behaviors sexism defines as male. Asked to give up the true self in order to realize the patriarchal ideal, boys learn self-betrayal early and are rewarded for these acts of soul murder.”

'Soul Murder' is my fourth exclusive commission by Auric Gallery. The work explores emerging models of intimate experiences between men. These three short duets 'Daddy Worked', 'Native Tounge', and 'Quiet Joy' respectively, seek to illuminate the nuances and tenderness within masculinity's complexity. The duets aim to complement and co-exist without being directly related. They also share a core theme of propelling queer, platonic, and familial male relationships forward and into the center.
