*Free Public Forum* The Perils of Profit: The Pitfalls of Early Childhood Education as a 'High-Return Investment'
Description
NSW Legislative council member Abigail Boyd has been leading a Parliamentary Inquiry into ECE following her work with an ABC journalist to uncover the issues, risks to children, and drivers in the increasingly profit-driven ECE system in New South Wales.
Come along to hear from Abigail, in conversation with Aotearoa ECE sector participants, about her experiences investigating the Australian ECE system. Learn about the risks she uncovered to children and families, and hear what the ECE Inquiry has revealed about regulation, transparency, and policy settings.
Currently, the New Zealand government is moving to deregulate ECE and create a more business and profit-oriented ECE system in Aotearoa. Participants will share their thoughts on the lessons we might take from the Australian experience.
