The Piano Men
Event description
Why is it when we think of the piano it is always men at the forefront?
“Sing us a song, you’re the piano man…” Elton John, Billy Joel, Ben Folds, Tim Minchin: But where are the piano women? An exploration into the unknown stories of historic women pianists, from a successful Australian piano woman, Emma Knights.
The Piano Men is a look at the history of the piano and its women throughout history as well as a sharing of my own experiences as a female pianist without diminishing the works of the piano’s men. Part concert/part cabaret, The Piano Men, is a journey through time and genres and hopes to inspire young pianists to pursue their passions in music.
