Description

We thought we were the lucky country. We still can be.

Nudgee Beach Environmental Education Centre invites you to a free community screening of The Plastic Country, a powerful new Australian documentary from filmmaker Kal Glanznig.

A former water polo athlete turned ocean advocate, Kal grew up surfing the beaches of Cronulla. As emerging research into the health impacts of plastic caught his attention, he set out to understand what it means that Australia is now one of the world's largest producers of plastic waste per person. His journey takes him from remote coastlines to wildlife hospitals and Parliament House, uncovering how plastic pollution is infiltrating our ecosystems, our politics, and our own bodies.

The Plastic Country is both a warning and a rallying cry, revealing the solutions already underway and showing how each of us can help turn the tide on plastic for good.

This screening is presented free of charge as part of a growing national conversation. It's an opportunity for our local community, families, students, and educators connected to Nudgee Beach, to come together, learn, and discuss what action looks like here at home.

Join us from 5.30pm for a free sausage sizzle and a chance to connect with the community. The film screening runs from 6.15pm to 7.30pm.
