The Plastic Country: Film Screening & Panel Discussion

Australia has a plastic problem — and The Plastic Country explores what it will take to fix it.

From filmmaker and youth ocean advocate Kal Glanznig, The Plastic Country explores the growing impact of plastic pollution on our environment, wildlife and human health. Through a journey across Australia, Kal uncovers how plastic waste is affecting communities and ecosystems, while highlighting the people and solutions working to create change.

Described as both a warning and a rallying cry, the film reveals solutions already underway and shows how we can all help drive the change needed to turn the tide on plastics for good.

The screening commences at 5.15pm. Following the film, join us for a panel discussion with experts and changemakers exploring the challenges and opportunities in tackling plastic pollution, advancing circular economy solutions and creating a more sustainable future.

Free and open to everyone.

About Citizen COP Australia

Citizen COP Australia is a decentralised, people-powered movement running alongside the global COPs in 2026. Enabled by People For Nature, but intentionally independent and distributed, Citizen COP invites communities, organisations, schools, businesses, artists, and local groups across Australia to host their own events during the COP period. Rather than a single central event, Citizen COP is a nationwide network of conversations, workshops, and actions that bring global climate and nature discussions into local communities. It connects people to science, solutions, and each other, strengthening civic engagement and ensuring citizen voices contribute to Australia’s climate and nature conversations.
