THE PLASTIC COUNTRY — MIDLAND JUNCTION ARTS CENTRE SCREENING

Join us for a special screening of The Plastic Country at Midland Junction Arts Centre, hosted in partnership with Hon Amanda Dorn MLC.

The screening will bring the Midland community together to explore Australia's plastic-pollution crisis and the practical solutions needed to reduce waste, protect wildlife and safeguard our environment for future generations.

Pre-screening pop-up bar & exhibition
Arrive early and enjoy our pre-screening pop-up bar in the Midland Junction Arts Centre gallery, where you can explore the exhibition What Price Comfort? by artist Margery Goodall. The exhibition challenges ideas about packaging, consumption, waste and value by repurposing discarded household packaging into comfort blankets. It's a perfect companion to the film.

About the film
The Plastic Country is a confronting, timely and deeply personal Australian documentary that challenges how we think about plastic, our health, our oceans and the systems that shape the world around us.

Follow Kal Glanznig — filmmaker, ocean advocate and Councillor — as he investigates Australia's growing plastic crisis, uncovering the hidden impacts of plastic pollution on coastlines, wildlife, communities and even our own bodies.

From remote beaches and stormwater drains to supermarket shelves, scientific laboratories and the halls of Parliament, this powerful documentary asks a difficult question: how did Australia become one of the world's biggest plastic-waste producers per person, and what will it take to turn the tide?

This is a story about pollution.
A story about health.
A story about accountability.
A story about hope, solutions and the future of Australia.
