‘The Plummery’: a small scale intensive urban permaculture

This event has passed Get tickets

Event description

Farming can be challenging in an urban environment such as Glen Eira, but with careful planning and innovative strategies it's possible to grow veggies, herbs, fruits and other plants while making the most of your limited space.

'The Plummery’ is a tiny 1/14th acre urban permaculture system that produces almost all of the household’s vegetables, herbs, fruit and even quail eggs – amounting to more than 450kg of produce in 2020 (

Gardener and designer Kat Lavers will speak about how ‘The Plummery” has overcome challenges to create abundance from a small urban space and present a case study that demonstrates the contribution home gardens can make to food security, cost of living, climate resilience and community.

Date: Sunday 14 April

Time: 10am–12pm

Location: East Bentleigh Village Garden, Bob Favell  Building

92 Bignell Road, Bentleigh East
