The acclaimed Hong Kong ensemble Melody Plus makes its third appearance to Australia audience, supported by the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office, Sydney and organised by the Arts and Culture Association for Mindful Souls. Following the previous successful performances, Arts and Culture Association will present the “Cultural Exchange Concert – The Power of Chinese and Western Strings,” a remarkable fusion concert at the Studio 420, ABC Brisbane Centre South Bank, 15th August 2025 at 7:00pm.
Audiences will experience a unique sonic journey as Melody Plus blends the evocative sounds of traditional Chinese instruments—guzheng and erhu—with the rich tones of Western strings including violin, viola, and cello. The programme is crafted by the celebrated Hong Kong composer Wong Hok-yeung Alfred, whose innovative music arrangements have captivated listeners worldwide and earned reputation for his pioneering cross-cultural dialogue. The concert will also feature new works that pushing the boundaries of musical collaboration.
Joining the ensemble for the Brisbane performance is Brendan Joyce, Artistic Director of Camerata – Queensland’s Chamber Orchestra, known for his dynamic and indefatigable leadership.
