Building early childhood spaces with children and families in mind is the beginning of creating a community where each and every child and family feel like they are valued, respected, and belong.

The Pyramid Model for Promoting Social Emotional Competence in Infants and Young Children provides early educators and intervention professionals with a framework of practices to promote the social, emotional, and behavioural development of each and every child. The Pyramid Model is grounded in a focus on equity, inclusion and belonging and is based on the assumption that all children can be successful in our early childhood spaces.

In this workshop, we will explore the guiding assumptions of the model, the research to support it, and how to implement it.

The focus will be on the strategies and practices that all professionals working with children can implement in their spaces. The workshop will include opportunities for discussion about barriers and supports to implementation

• Develop a detailed understanding of the Pyramid Model

• Explore practical tools and strategies you can apply in your own early learning environment

• Learn how to approach implementation in your setting

• Discover ideas and solutions to overcome common barriers, and the supports that can help

About the Speakers: Willeke De Schepper

Koorana Practice Lead, Training & Consultancy | Practice Lead, Specialist Teacher

Willeke has more than 15 years’ experience supporting families through the early childhood years and the transition into school. She is passionate about empowering children to thrive in their learning environments and works closely with families and educators to build collaborative partnerships that support every child to reach their full potential.

This training is designed for professionals working across early childhood and early intervention, including Specialist Early Childhood Teachers, Early Childhood Educators and Centre Directors, Paediatric Occupational Therapists, Speech Pathologists, Psychologists and Physiotherapists, as well as other professionals supporting children in early childhood and early learning environments.
