About Ata Rangi and Helen Masters:
Ata Rangi, meaning “dawn sky” or “new beginning” in Te Reo Māori, is a small, family-owned organic winery in Martinborough. Founded in 1980 by Clive Paton, the winery has grown from a modest sheep paddock to one of the New World’s most respected producers of Pinot Noir. With deep roots in the region and a commitment to working in harmony with the land, Ata Rangi continues to earn global acclaim. Today, the winery is led by Alison Paton, with winemaker Helen Masters and vineyard manager Ian Ewart at the helm of production.
Our guest of honour, Helen Masters, brings over two decades of experience in Martinborough winemaking. Named Gourmet Traveller Winemaker of the Year in 2019, Helen’s dedication has earned not only personal acclaim but global recognition for her wines, which are poured in some of the world’s finest restaurants.
