Class Description: Join us for a six-week workshop exploring Golden Open Acrylics! Discover the benefits of this long-drying acrylic paint that combines the best of both oil and traditional acrylics. In this course, we will delve into blending techniques, explore mediums that extend drying time, and create an 8 x 10 realistic painting together. Additionally, we will cover color pre-mixing, grayscale techniques, and the art of glazing to enhance your final masterpiece. Instructor: Richard Raney is an art teacher and artist with a Bachelor of Art in Illustration/Design from the Kansas City Art Institute. With a rich background in illustration, painting, sculpture, and more, he has taught at various institutions such as KCAI, St. Michael the Archangel High School and Archbishop O’Hara High School. His teaching encompasses creative lesson planning, interactive teaching, problem-solving, and classroom instruction. Richard Raney has worked with a diverse range of professional clients and has had his works displayed in permanent collections and publications Raney's upcoming course focuses on teaching students how to create longer drawings using a proportional divider. By offering a unique approach beyond quick drawings like gesture drawings, he aims to elevate students' understanding and skills in art.
Eligibility: Age 18+.
Supplies: The instructor will contact registered students directly regarding materials and supplies.
Parking: Parking is available in any of the (NON-RESERVED) KCAI parking lot spaces across campus. RESERVED spaces are available after 5pm on the weekdays and all day on the weekends. There is also available street parking surrounding KCAI campus.
Refund: Registered participants can receive refunds to the original payment method (Studio Fee minus Humanitix Fee) up to 14 days before the first class.
