Event description

The Roseologist Presents: POP STAR! Creative Craft Workshops

Running four nights only: Tuesday 5th, Wednesday 6th, Thursday 7th & Friday 8th November

5:00pm - 7:00pm –  Barton ArtBox

Have you ever dreamt of being taken back to the 1980s, when everything was fun, bright, vibrant, and fluorescent colours were de rigueur?  Well you are in luck, because we have created a craft workshop just for you!

Yes! POP STAR! will rescue you from the doldrums… from the unbearable monotony of blandness and “greige”!

In this workshop you will create your own unique artwork using collage, hand-made tassels, and other embellishments, which will have 80s vibes aplenty.

Everything you will need to create your POP STAR! artwork / hanging ornament is included in the workshop. It is accessible, designed for all skill levels, and suitable for complete beginners to craft aficionados alike.

The POP STAR! Craft workshops have been created specifically to coincide with Wildflower, an exhibition of recent works by artists Rhiannon Berry (aka The Roseologist), and Lauren Sutton, and will take place at the Wildflower exhibition venue, giving participants a chance to view the exhibition whilst getting crafty!

Limited spaces available & numbers are tight, so get in quick!

NOTE: Tuesday 5th & Wednesday 6th are now BOOKED OUT...

Background information regarding the Workshop Developers:

The Roseologist X Julia Ockert – Creative Workshops and DIY Kits

Rhiannon Berry, aka The Roseologist, and Julia Ockert are two Canberran artists with a shared passion for fun and engaging creative activities.  They have an ongoing project developing workshops and DIY kits that are designed for all skill levels, and a diverse range of age groups. Rhiannon, who has experience working in the disability space, particularly wanted to offer accessible activities that could be enjoyed by people with impaired function or cognition, as well as anyone interested in craft activities.

“Our kits are tactile and bright, with components that are different materials and shapes, so it is a pleasing sensory experience”, says Rhiannon. “They are also super enjoyable, which is an added bonus!, adds Julia.

Julia and Rhiannon’s kits are available for purchase online, as well as from Rhiannon’s studio in Fyshwick, ACT.

Rhiannon will be running a series of workshops at BartonArtBox during the first week in November, to coincide with the exhibition Wildflower, which she is also part of.
