Living Rivers, Living Entities: Launch + Panel Discussion

Join us for the launch of the report The Single Living Entity Concept in Planning for Waterways and panel discussion bringing together thought leaders in planning and water policy to explore how the single living entity concept can reshape urban planning. The session will consider what it means to embed landscape-wide, Indigenous-informed views into planning schemes across Victoria.

The single living entity approach faces several barriers to implementation including fragmented decision-making across multiple councils, compartmentalised planning frameworks that treat rivers in pieces rather than as whole systems, and policies that express the vision but lack legal force.

This session will explore ways to address these challenges and identify how the living entity concept can be applied in planning reforms and on-ground action.
