In this writing and performance workshop, Andrew Cox will guide you through what a slam poem is and breakdown examples of winning slam poems.
Andrew will facilitate writing exercises that engage a slam-forward approach to writing and share the performance techniques that will set you apart in the competition.

Andrew Cox:

Andrew Cox is a Filipino/Australian who lives and works on Ngunnawal & Ngambri country.
He is the current creative producer of the Canberra Poetry Slam.
His work crosses boundaries, performing in high schools as well as major Australian wide competitions, spoken word theatre productions, to more recently being featured internationally for the 2023 Singapore Writers Festival.

As an educator, Andrew is currently employed by the National Gallery as a facilitator and developer of learning programs.
Andrew's work has been shortlisted for national writing prizes, notably for Innovation in Spoken Word and his writing published in multiple anthologies, most recently Admissions (Upswell publishing) and commissioned by celebrated Australian literature companies the likes of Red Room Poetry.
Andrew is recognised as an emerging voice in Australian poetry, with a focus in the disciplines of Slam and Spoken Word.
