Event description

In Exploring Caesarean Birth Brisbane 2025, participants will take a deep dive into the complexities of caesarean birth—its history, impact, and evolving role in maternity care. From its early origins as a life-saving procedure to its current status as the most common surgical birth method, the caesarean section continues to shape the childbirth experience for millions of women.

Today, over one-third of Australian mothers give birth via caesarean section. For some, it is an empowering and life-saving intervention; for others, it can be a challenging and emotionally complex experience. As midwives, understanding the physical, emotional, and long-term implications of caesarean birth is essential in providing comprehensive, woman-centered care.

This workshop will explore the broader health and social impacts of caesarean birth and equip midwives with the knowledge and skills to support women before, during, and after the procedure. It will also look at future trends in caesarean birth and its role in maternity care.

Please note: We’ve made some changes to the workshops! This event covers the exact same content as the previous The Slice of Life – Exploring the Possibilities workshop.
