The Blue Mountains has long been a haven for creatives and artists. Tonight’s panel features three local award-winning creators for children: Tohby Riddle; Charmaine Ledden-Lewis and James Roy. They’ll be shooting the breeze with Dave about what it is that makes the Mountains such a rich environment for the multitude of ‘kidlit’ creators.

Charmaine is a proud Bundjalung woman, and was the 2019 winner of Magabala Books’ Kestin Indigenous Illustrator Award. She illustrated Bruce Pascoe’s children’s picture book Found and Cathy Freeman’s Born to Run. Other titles by Charmaine include Naynay and the Mermaid and Charlie’s Swim, which was named Honour Book in the CBCA awards.

Tohby is the Hans Christian Anderson Medal-nominated artist and writer-illustrator of an array of books, including Nobody Owns the Moon, Unforgotten, Yahoo Creek and the NSW Premier’s Literary Award-winning The Word Spy (with Ursula Dubosarsky).

James has written 35 books for children and young adults, including Town, Captain Mack and One Thousand Hills (with Noël Zihabamwe) which won two Premier’s Literary Awards.
