Event description

What is it?

The Sound of Unity is a concert that brings together organizations and musicians with the goal of building and promoting the peace and solidarity movement in Toronto, connecting people to each other, highlighting important work happening all while enjoying incredible music.

Why do we need this?

We need to find creative ways to build a culture of peace and solidarity in Toronto. Music is one of these ways.

In Canada, we are seeing our government spend billions of our dollars on increased war and militarism that is destroying lives and the environment globally. The escalation of these actions is becoming evident all over the world. We see mass destruction of homes and lives in Sudan, The Congo and the obliteration of Gaza. We see a continued effort by NATO member countries, like Canada, to squash sovereignty and economic development throughout Latin America, evident in Cuba and Venezuela. Whether Canada is participating directly or indirectly, either way, we need to focus on promoting peace, justice and solidarity at home and abroad.

Music has the power to bring people together and The Sound of Unity has a mission to do just that, build and strengthen the peace, justice and solidarity work in Toronto.

What we are doing?

By inviting people, musicians, Peace and Solidarity Organizations into a space centered on community building through music, we can connect more people to peace and solidarity groups with the hope of building more capacity for these organizations to continue their important work.
