Event description
The Gaudi Sketches is concert of new original music in celebration of the great Catalan architect Antoní Gaudí, most famous for designing the Sagrada Familiar in Barcelona. The music will be presented by the SP7, a new jazz septet consisting of prominent Sydney Jazz musicians including Nishcal Manjunath (sax), Ellen Kirkwood (Trumpet), Rhys Moore (Trombone), Yutaro Okuda (guitar), Casey Golden (piano), Jodie Michael (drums) and lead by bassist and composer Siebe Pogson. Siebe is most known for leading the jazz-funk Funk Engine and for being a founding member and composer of the jazz cross-over group Elysian Fields working alongside Matt Keegan, Matt McMahonn and Dave Goodman.
Peter Doublinszki is a concert guitarist with a rich musical background. He began his journey in Budapest before earning his Master’s degree in Auckland and receiving a scholarship to pursue his Doctoral studies at the Sydney Conservatorium. Dedicated to both classical and jazz, he has toured extensively throughout Europe and New Zealand, performing as a soloist and collaborator at major festivals and concert halls. Drawing from Hungarian folk music, classical traditions, and jazz, his performances seamlessly weave improvisation into a program that is both dynamic and deeply expressive.
