It's not what jazz is, It's what jazz does - Ronny Ferrella

    Sydney Improvised Music Association presents:
    Space Is The Place: Bungarribee
As part of the Jazz:NOW program

An exotic blend of world, jazz and classical music, Daley travelled down Bungarribee Road in Sydney’s outer western suburbs to his earliest music lessons... and there the journey unfolded.

Named after the Indigenous word for ‘idyllic meeting place’, Bungarribee is an imaginative re-working of the classic jazz quartet. Paul Cutlan’s masterful bass clarinet is set against an exotic rhythm section featuring accordion, cello and Beier’s south Indian hand percussion, bells and rhythmic knick-knacks.

Gary Daley | Piano, Accordion, Loops and Electronics
Paul Cutlan | Flutes, Clarinets and Sax
    Oliver Miller | Cello, Electronics
Tunji Beier | Indian, African Percussion And Loops

“It's a rare sensation these days, but there is still such exhilaration in being taken to the edge of the possible. Many sections of this concert made you felt you'd had a craniotomy, and the top of your skull had rocketed skyward” John Shand, Sydney Morning Herald
