Event description

Join us for an exciting full-day workshop designed specifically for young people aged 16-24. Professional podcast trainer Abid Imam will walk you through everything you need to know about creating your own podcast—from finding your unique voice to handling all the technical bits and pieces. Whether you're keen to use professional gear or just want to start with your phone, we've got you covered. Over six hours, you'll learn how to tell engaging stories, find your perfect podcasting niche, and get hands-on experience with recording and editing.

We'll provide all the equipment you need, plus lunch to keep you energised throughout the day. It's the perfect chance to jump into the podcasting world with other young creatives!

The Spark is generously funded by DLGSC, Healthway and Centre for Stories Story Supporters.

About the Facilitator

Born in Boorloo and raised in Walyalup, Abid Imam combines his Fijian and Pakistani heritage with a passion for sport, music, and culture. Exploring the intersection of these passions has led to Abid developing the Freo de Janeiro brand to represent a collection of interconnected activities such as a podcast on leadership, DJing, storytelling and event MCing.

Abid has been podcasting since 2015, starting with a Road to Rio show, featuring inspiring conversations with personalities like Professor Fiona Wood AM and Adam Gilchrist.

With his experience and learnings to share from across the podcast landscape, Abid is passionate about the art of podcasting, storytelling and supporting people to find their voice.
