The Stand: 90 DVAPs in 90 Days - Community Workshop (Alice Springs)
Event description
Join NO MORE for The Stand: 90 DVAPs in 90 Days - Community Workshop, a FREE practical and engaging session designed to spark community-led action against domestic and family violence (DFV) across the Northern Territory.
Domestic and family violence is a serious, ongoing crisis and the NT continues to experience some of the highest rates in the country. Behind every statistic is a life impacted, a family impact and a community carrying the weight. But this is preventable, and it starts with us.
The Stand is a new initiative inviting sporting clubs, workplaces, community groups, businesses, and organisations across the Territory to create and commit to a Domestic Violence Action Plan (DVAP). These plans are more than documents, they can be yarning circles, team policies, healing spaces, cultural programs or training commitments. What matters is that they are meaningful to your group and lead to real change.
In the workshop, participants will:
A short introduction to domestic and family violence, what drives it - including gender inequality, trauma, colonisation, and harmful social norms.
Understand why the NT is uniquely impacted, and why community-led actions is the key for change
Explore how to get involved in The Stand Initiative
Begin shaping a DVAP that reflects your group's values, needs, and strengths
Whether you're part of a footy club, a workplace, a youth service, a remote women's centre or any community group, you have a role to play in ending violence and building safer, more respectful environments.
