About the New Venue - Bucketty's Brewing Co, Brookvale

There is so much to learn about Bucketty's and its humble beginnings.  It's a family owned business with much blood, sweat and tears making it what it is today.

I can't think of a better place for Story Room Aus to call home, after-all beer and stories are like peas in a pod, they just fit perfectly.

The Food

Check out the menu. You certainly won't starve to death while you listen to some great stories. We are however trying to learn how many people might buy meals, as Nick the owner will open the food truck especially for us.

Journal/Instructional Bookmark now available for purchase at the checkout

So you have been coming along to Story Room Aus and you think that perhaps one day you might like to share a story or perhaps you are considering writing your memoir sometime in the future to share with your family and friends. After searching for months I came across a beautiful aluminium covered journal. I purchased it and have been recording events that happen each day, week or month in my life. I came to the conclusion that others might like to do the same. After all journalling is not only therapeutic, it helps you recall events in your life and when it comes to writing your memoir the journal will be a wonderful help. Purchase one at the checkout and we will have it at the door waiting for you at the next Story Room Aus (available in silver and gold) Meet the Storytellers (In no particular order)

Dr fLorence Cotel

"Dr fLorence Cotel is a neuroscientist, burnout expert, president & founder of a scientific non-profit, endurance athlete and inspirational speaker. Her experience spans across fundamental, applied and clinical research in France, Denmark and Australia. As a neuroscientist, fLorence is a big advocate that one can train their brain to do anything. Indeed at 25, when she moved to Copenhagen, the city of bicycles, she had never learnt how to cycle but refused to let this stop her. She taught herself to develop balance on two wheels and four years later, she cycled 12000+km from the Equator to the most southern point of the South American continent. Her extraordinary journey took her to an altitude desert in Bolivia, where she got lost for days and ran out of water. Without any GPS, she focused on her goal of reaching the South of the continent and used the Sun for direction. This experience helped her understand the importance of setting clear goals to realise the projects we care about and deepened her love for endurance. To share the lessons learnt and inspire others to realise their dreams, in 2022 she cycled 3000+km from Darwin to Adelaide. She shared the journey through a campaign called ”One Dream Down"

Harry Jun

Harry is a stand up comedian. I started in 2017, and had a sold out run of shows at Sydney Comedy Festival 2022. I was invited to perform at Melbourne International Comedy Festival’s Comedy Up Late show this year.

I’ve written an article for SBS called The Creative Arts Paradox in Asian Families and also made a cartoon for ABC Everyday for Everyday Racism.

Kiran Shah

Kiran is a trained social worker and early childhood educator who stumbled into storytelling as a profession 24 years ago. She grew up in Singapore and was in the forefront of reviving the art of oral telling there. She loves to tell stories, especially folktales from Asia, including from her Indian heritage. Her storytelling career has taken to India, Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia and Iran where she’s offered storytelling workshops and performances. Her next trip will be to a conference in Jakarta this November to present a workshop. Some of her stories have been published in folktale collections. Moving to Australia 15 years ago, she continues to contribute to the storytelling community here and was co- convenor of the recent Sydney international Storytelling conference in June. She believes that stories are powerful connectors and much needed in today’s world.

Gene Marsh

In 2022 Gene became an unlikely Grand Finalist in the Australian reality TV series LEGO Masters. His time on the show featured a record breaking run of 7 wins in a row, unheard of in the show’s history.

Peter and Bella Anthony

When Belle moved in with her dad on a summer evening, she was 16 and life was a disaster – from no school or daylight to destructive body issues and a pack of Marlboros a day. Her dad thought the antidote was lots of love, but it turns out he was only half right (that's about his average). Belle landed on a mantra “I’m enough” which soon morphed into “I’m a nuff.” So she could remember to remember that she was enough.  The nuff mantra was enough for her to begin turning her life around. Starting with baby steps like getting up in the morning. She decided to spread the message by starting a nuff clothing business and make it part of her high school project. She started with simple T shirts and sweatshirts with the nuff message sold from the garage. Now she operates the business in four countries with 30 items from candles to baseball caps.  And proceeds from the business go to charities who support young people to develop self-esteem. Belle dared to dream about a life of self-esteem for herself and others.
