Event description

King's Christian College proudly presents brand new performance works devised by students, exploring challenging contemporary ideas across the generations of our community. Featuring three one-act plays:

  •  'Ride Ricardo Ride' - Our Junior (Year 7 & 8) show developed from the picture book of the same name by Phil Cummings. During World War 2, a young Italian boy learns resilience and how to honour the lessons his father has taught him in a sensitive and moving exploration of parent-child relationships.
  • 'Then Now Next' - Our Intermediate (Year 9 & 10) show, a verbatim piece using stories from our community. Students have interviewed, questioned, improvised, interrogated and experimented around the intergenerational connections between Gen X and Gen Z. What could they possibly have in common?
  • 'Legacy' - Our Senior (Year 11 & 12) show, a Visual Theatre piece exploring the Theseus and Ariadne story from Ancient Greece and what it might reveal to our current culture and society. Can a person be a hero and a monster? Does the end justify the means? And what about the collateral damage?

These shows have never been performed - this is their premiere season! Two performances only, so don't miss this opportunity to experience innovative and exciting theatre!Food and beverage trucks will be on site to provide snacks and basic meals between the one act plays, plus there will be other fun activities involving audience awards for their favourite moments and performers. Plenty for all the family to love!
