The Value of Artistry — a panel talk presented by Sharesies
Description
Wellington has long been a city of creatives and makers — designers, artists, poets, filmmakers. But in an era of mass reproduction and rapid-fire trends, the work of making something original, and making it well, has never mattered more.
This panel is both a celebration of the city’s artists and makers and a conversation about what it takes to sustain them. Original work takes more than talent — it takes time, infrastructure, and the economic conditions for practices to last. How can we nurture the capital’s artistic spirit, and build an environment that protects and elevates originality?
Hosted by Sharesies co-founder and co-CEO Brooke Roberts, with panel guests including Peggy Robinson (PEG Gallery), Chris Bleackley (EightyOne), Jessie Wong (Yu Mei), and Kris Sowersby (Klim Type Foundry).
This special event is presented as part of Common Material: Contemporary fashion shaped by the city of Te Whanganui-a-Tara Wellington.
