Event description

Do you understand the value and potential of native grasslands in the Midlands Biodiversity Hotspot? Have you considered how farm management practices impact these grasslands and the species that rely on them? Through practical demonstrations and expert insights, farmers and experts will come together at this FREE workshop to gain a deeper understanding of how native grasslands support long-term farm resilience, and how native pastures can serve as productive, low-input assets when properly managed.

Hear from Peter Ball, Enviro-Dynamics, an expert in grazing and pasture management, and renowned veterinarian Dr. Bruce Jackson, about the benefits of native grasses, including drought buffering and seasonal resting.

PRESENTERS AND TOPICS INCLUDE:

Peter Ball

  • Importance of the seasonal resting of pastures

  • Grazing density and total grazing pressure, including from feral and native species

  • Integration of native pastures into year-round grazing management

Dr Bruce Jackson

  • Nutritional values of native pastures

  • Livestock production and reproductive ewe nutrition

  • How to assess pasture productivity and nutritional value

This workshop will be held over two locations, with presentations held inside out of the weather.
